Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic High School is an independent, private high school designed to provide college preparatory education. Founded in 1922, it is affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church as reflected in its motto: "Goodness, Discipline and Knowledge. In 2006 they began by winning the District 6 single A championship at DeGol Arena on the Saint Francis University campus. The Lady Marauders capped off that season by winning the state championship at the Bryce Jordan Center. During the 2006-07 basketball season, their final overall record was 31-1 but did not win the state title. The Lady Marauders won the single A state championship again during the 2008-2009 season, finishing with a 31-1 record. The Lady Marauders returned to the Bryce Jordan Center during the 2009-2010 season to play for their third single A state title in four years after winning the LHAC Championship and District 6 title. They defeated Northern Camberia 49-29 to win the state championship and cap off an undefeated, 30-0, season. In 2011, the Bishop Guilfoyle Girls Volleyball team won the District 6 Championship on November 5. This was the first time they accomplished this since 2000. It was the 3rd time in school history. Led by 9 seniors, the Girls Volleyball team then went for the first time to the State Championship Tournament in York, Pennsylvania at Central York High School. They made it all the way to the semi-finals which was held on Saturday, November 12 and lost to Clarion High School.
